With more than 17 years experience, Matt offers Creative Support to Producers on development projects, pitch materials and distribution solutions.
For 10 years, Matt ran the Programme Schedule at CITV where he was instrumental in bringing The Rubbish World of Dave Spud to the channel and saw the launch and growth of shows like Thunderbirds Are Go, Project Z, Spy School and weekend morning magazine wraparound show Scrambled!
Matt acted as Commissioner for the Channel’s short form programming, which included the triple BAFTA Award Winning Share A Story and the channel’s Signed Presented programmes for which he championed the improvement in delivery. Working with ITV’s in-vision Signing team, Signpost Productions, he developed engaging and entertaining shows such as Mission Employable and Dare Master, which put signers front and centre of the action and worked as entertainment pieces for both a hearing and deaf audience.
Matt was also the brainchild behind CITV’s 30th Birthday Celebrations, working as CITV Consultant with Shiver Productions on 30 Years of CITV as well as curating the Old Skool Weekend in January 2013 which recorded the channel’s highest ratings ever.
After leaving CITV, Matt joined Jetpack Distribution to lead the Acquisitions Submissions and Review process, reviewing nearly 400 annual submissions and designing a new process that could handle the significant uplift that Jetpack had been seeing.
He ensured that all Producers and Content Creators who submitted a series to Jetpack received creative feedback on their submission, regardless as to whether the company was proceeding with an offer and worked with Producers and Studios to keep track of the ongoing development of almost 150 titles that Jetpack had some interest in pursuing for potential future distribution.
Matt was also tasked with shortlisting and presenting projects for potential co-production with Jetpack’s French partner SAMKA, in an effort to move the development and funding of projects along through partnerships with their studios in France, Italy or Israel.
Matt joined the Children’s Media Conferences’ Advisory Committee in 2017 and has Exec-Produced the prestigious Changemaker Strand since 2023. A combination of Video on Demand and Live Sessions, these Changemakers talk on a variety of subjects from Diversity and inclusion, through to environmental issues and young people’s mental health.
Before TV, Matt’s first love was radio where he worked at several local commercial radio stations including Dream 107.7, Mix 107 and Garrison FM. He’s twice been lured back to where it all started to present one-off shows for anniversary weekends at Hospital Radio Chelmsford’ – an hour of music and memories of 2002 for the station’s 55th Anniversary in 2019 followed by three hours covering 2000 to 2002 for their 60th Anniversary in 2024.
