06/01/08: New Year, New Website!

Matt's started the New Year by launching a new webiste for the drama group he's involved in. www.earbyplayers.org.uk is up and running and promoting the first production of the group this February, which Matt also stars in.

18/12/07: Matt's Off To ITV!

Matt has today announced he's leaving Laser Broadcasting and Radio to join the team of CITV in Manchester. As scheduling assistant, Matt will be in charge of programming the idents and Promos on the CITV Channel, and the kids strand on ITV1.

"Since I was a nipper I've always wanted to work in TV, and working with a brand I've been a fan of for years will be VERY easy. It's an exciting chance for me, and working from offices just a handful of floors above Coronation Street!"

Speaking of his departure from Laser, Matt said, "The CITV position was too good an opportunity to turn down, and something that could be amazing for my future. Whilst I'm leaving radio for now I don't imagine for a minute that I'll be able to leave my headphones alone permanently!"

Matt leaves Laser this Friday, and starts at the Granada Studios in Manchester on January 7th.

17/09/07: New Job For Matt

It's today been confirmed that Matt is to join Laser Broadcasting as Traffic Assistant. Based at Fresh Radio in Yorkshire, Matt will be in charge of the logs for three of Laser Broadcasting's stations, the Sunshine stations in the Midlands.

Talking of his new position Matt said, "It's a great opportunity to join a group that is going places and still believes in local radio being local. Whilst I'll be off air for a while, I hope that joining Laser won't put an end to my broadcasting career, and hopefully I'll be heard on radio up North soon!

Matt starts on 1st October and will be moving to Earby on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border for the role, based at Fresh radio in Skipton.

09/08/07: Matt's Final Day Confirmed

Garrison FM have just confirmed Matt's final Breakfast show to Colchester, Bassingbourn and Wattisham. His final show will be broadcast on Friday 24th August from 6am. Former BBC Essex Presenter Liz Mullen will be taking over.
Speaking today Matt said, "I've had a fantastic time over the last 12 months on Breakfast, but the time has come to do new things. I wish Liz the best of luck and only ask that she looks after my listeners!"

08/08/07: Another New Website Launched

The latest addition to the Matt Bowen/MCOMS website family has been launched. The 1940s Band are affiliated with The Cockney Pride. Both bands are run by John Knowles, and following the success of The Cockney Pride's site, John decided to hire Matt to create a specialist site for the 1940s band.

John said, "I am immensley pleased with the new site. The way I do business has really changed since the Cockney Pride site launched 18 months ago, so I've been really keen to show all we have to offer on the net."

28/06/07: Matt To Leave Garrison FM

Matt has today announced he is leaving 107 Garrison FM. He said, "After some careful consideration I have decided to see what else is out there. I have enjoyed my year in charge of Garrison FM, but I feel it's time to catch up on some sleep and see if evenings still exist."

18/05/07: Garrison FM at the Colchester Military Festival

Garrison FM have confirmed their involvement at this years Colchester Military Festival. There will be two roadshows on the day, one in the Sodexho Beer Tent, and the second presenting on the live music stage for the daytime entertainment. Matt's involvement is expected to be on this stage. You can find more on the Military Festival Website

27/03/07: Garrison Live Is Coming

Matt is set to put Colchester in the record books by becoming the first Garrison FM station to take the Breakfast show on the road. From the 23rd April, Matt will spend the 9am to 11am slot of his show broadcasting live from around the Garrison.

The first will take place on St George's Day itself, live from the Grand Opening of the new Hive office on Merville Barracks. On Tuesday he'll be live at ATR Bassingbourn in Cambs, then back to Colchester for the rest of the week. Full details to follw soon!

02/03/07: Another Network Show For Matt

Join Matt across the Garrison Radio Network as he covers for Steve Collett on the Sunday Afternoon show. 10/01/07: Garrison Radio Confirm Full Time Contract For Matt

Following the initial trial period, Garrison Radio have confirmed that Matt will be taking up a full time contract with them from February 1st 2007. He will also become Station Manager.

The period began in September after Matt spent four weeks covering the breakfast show during the search for a new Station Manager. After doing a good job, Garrison Radio took him on for the trial period. Garrison Radio have confirmed that the efforts of Matt through the last four months have been enough for him to win the post full time.

Commenting on the new position, Matt told us "I'm thrilled to finally be signing up for a full time gig. I've been Freelance for far too long now, and it'll be great to be in a position where I can build on what is already a good station, as well as extend my own personal experience."

The announcement comes as Garrison radio prepare for a second relay from the Homefield Road based station to RAF Wattisham. Due on air later this spring Wattisham will take the feed of Colchester Garrison Radio, like ATR Bassingbourn, with selected output dedicated especially for them. Once online it will mean the TSA of Colchester Garrison Radio will have almost doubled since last November's switch on in Bassingbourn.

24/12/06: Spend The New Year With Matt

06/11/06: Garrison Radio Streams To ATR Bassingbourn

From Thursday Colchester Garrison Radio will also be broadcasting to ATR Bassingbourn in Cambridgeshire. Bassinbourn is the home of a training regiment, and as such recruits who pass through it's gates will be put through their paces to join the Army. Phase one training takes place at Bassingbourn, and for many new soldiers it will be their first encounter with Army life.

From 9:15am on Thursday morning, they will be receiving a relay of the Colchester Gasrrison Radio stream, meaning that whatever Colchester broadcasts, Bassingbourn will hear to on 1287AM. The result is another potential 4,000 listeners to Matt's Breakfast show each morning from 6am.

The big switch on happens live on 107FM on Thursday morning, with Matt's first visit to the Barracks in Bassingbourn the following week. "I'm looking forward to waking up some new listeners," Matt commented, "It's a great opportunity to expand the Garrison Radio name, and I can't wait to head down there and take a look around for myself!"

25/10/06: Matt To Leave Mix 107

Matt has announced he will be stepping down from his Freelance duties on The Local Radio Company's Mix 107 at the end of the year. Matt joined the station in September last year, following his departure at Dream 107.7. Initially, he covered some daytime shows but last November he was offered Saturday mornings, which became known as The Saturday Show.

Since January, Matt has covered Breakfast, Daytimes and Drive at the station, as well as Easy Sunday. He spent much of August and early September covering Drive after presenting Breakfast on Garrison Radio earlier in the day.

On his departure, Matt commented, "It's been an amazing ride for me in Bucks, but for someone who loves his sleep, by the time a week of Breakfasts in Colchester comes to an end, I don't feel I put my best into the Saturday Show. This extra spare day in my week will help me concentrate on Garrison Radio. It's a bit of a gamble as far as my temporary contract is concerned, I've just got to hope for the best!"

Matt's final show on Mix 107 will air on the 30th December between 10am and 2pm. Meanwhile, the Mix Midday Riddle has taken its final bow, and won't be returning to air. "It's the start of winding things down a bit, you can't fault how successful it has been, lines lighting up every week guarenteed, but all good things come to an end," Matt commented.

20/09/06: Three Month Contract at Garrison

Garrison Radio have confirmed a three month position for Matt as Station Representative for their Colchester Station. Over the last month, Matt has been covering as Station Manager, but last night it was confirmed that for a period of three months Matt will be Station Representative. The role is essentially similar to that of Station Manager but on a temporary basis. After three months the role will be reviewed and Matt will be considered for the full Station Manager role.

On his new role Matt commented, "I'm delighted to have something I can now solidly work towards at Garrison Radio. We have some great ideas for things we want to do over the course of the next few months and if we pull them off it should really put the station on the map. I can't wait to get involved in this new capacity." Additionally, Matt added, "As one of the first things I've done is arrange for a new cover presenter as I've got a week off in October." The role has been passed to Matt's former colleague from Dream 107.7 Tracie Young. "Tracie is a top class presenter, and the first person I considered to cover breakfast at Garrison. It'll be fantastic to work with her again."

13/08/06: Matt Launches New Demo

Matt has today released a brand new demo. The material on it comes from shows presented on Mix 107 in the spring of this year. It coincides with Matt's appearence in the New Talent section of RadioTalent.co.uk

04/08/06: Matt Becomes Acting Station Manager

From the 18th August, Matt will become Acting Station Manager for Colchester Garrison Radio. The vacancy has come up following the departure of Andy Luckman. As well as presenting the breakfast show daily, Matt will also be in charge of maintaining the Station image around the Garrison and preparing interviews and the all important Op Herrick link up with the troops in Afgahnistan. The job will continue until a permanent replacement is found.

18/03/06: Two New Sites For The Matt Bowen/MCOMS Family

Two new sites have been launched as part of the Matt Bowen/MCOMS Family. The first is the new site for the Pearly King and Queen, which has been redesigned to match the style of the sister site for the Cockney Pride which launched last month. The second site is Get In The Swim for the Chelmsford based swim school.

08/03/06: Matt Wins 2nd Place In WWG Competition

Last night Matt was given second place in the Woodham Writers Group Christmas Competition 2005. The entries, submitted last Christmas, were judged by a local English teacher and her husband. The competition theme was music, with all entries being the stories behind songs they liked. Matt chose Robbie Williams' No Regrets, and the judges said it was an enjoyable piece that held the readers attention. They particularly liked the way the song was weaved into the story.

23/02/06: New Site Launched!

Local band The Cockney Pride have officially launched their website designed by Matt Bowen. It's the first site that Matt has designed for an outside source. Band leader John Knowles said the site "is looking absolutely excellent - I'm really pleased" In the coming weeks Matt will also be redesigning the Pearly King & Queen site, but not before building a site for the swim school John's wife runs.

30/12/05: The Riddle Is Coming Back

Mix 107 has just confirmed that from Saturday January 7th Matt's riddle will be back on the radio! The Mix Midday Riddle will run from 12pm to 2pm every Saturday. It's been given a full makeover with a £100 prize pack up for grabs, decreasing by £20 every time a clue is given. Matt Says; "I'm so pleased it's back, and Mix 107 have given it a full makeover and it's a lot bigger then it ever was before!"

10/11/05: Webmaster for HRC

Matt has just been confirmed as the webmaster for HRC The role will largely involve general maintenence as well as keeping the news pages up to date.

30/10/05: Weekly Matt

Mix 107 have confirmed that Matt Bowen will be taking over their Saturday Morning 10am to 2pm slot from November 19th. It follows almost a month of weekday cover that Matt has done for the station. It's also the first time Matt's had his own slot since July. Matt says; "I'm looking forward to settling into my new weekly home. Here's hoping my best fried, the Riddle can make a triumphant return with me!"

12/10/05 - Joining The Army

Colchester Garrison Radio have confirmed that Matt Bowen is now their official freelancer. The station broadcasts on 1350AM to the soldiers and their families at Colchester Garrison and has recently applied to OFCOM for a FM license. Matt will be covering Weekday and Saturday Breakfast as and when he is required. His first slot is in November!
